| The Youth and Family Engagement Specialist will be responsible for leading and engaging group activities, fostering personal growth, and building relationships within the community. This position requires a strong commitment to youth and family development, excellent communication skills, and a passion for creating positive change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Group Facilitations: Plan and implement age-appropriate group activities that promote leadership, teamwork, and personal development.
- Create a safe and inclusive environment where young people feel valued and supported.
- Facilitate discussions on relevant topics, including mental health, substance abuse prevention, and conflict resolution.
- Responsible for leading engaging group activities, fostering personal growth, and building relationships within the community.
- Family literacy: Supporting families in developing early literacy skills and creating home learning environments.
- Youth development: Focusing on promoting positive youth development through mentoring, tutoring, and life skills training.
- Juvenile justice: Working with youth involved in the juvenile justice system, providing re-entry support and prevention services.
- Case management: Assessing needs, developing support plans, and connecting families to appropriate resources.
- Counseling and mentoring: Offering emotional support, guidance, and life skills development.
- Crisis intervention: Responding to immediate crises and providing necessary support.
- Outreach and engagement: Building relationships with families and the community, promoting programs and services.
- Collaboration: Working with other agencies and professionals to coordinate services and ensure comprehensive support.
- Advocacy: Representing the needs of youth and families to policymakers and other stakeholders.
Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain accurate records of group attendance, activities, and participants

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalency in social work, psychology, or a related field is often preferred.
- Passion for working with young people and a strong belief in their potential.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication.
- Ability to create an engaging and interactive group.
- Strong organizational and time management.
- Experience in group facilitation and youth development preferred.
- Must pass all Department of Child Services required background checks.
