The Youth and Family Engagement Specialist will be responsible for leading and engaging group activities, fostering personal growth, and building relationships within the community. This position requires a strong commitment to youth and family development, excellent communication skills, and a passion for creating positive change.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Group Facilitations: Plan and implement age-appropriate group activities that promote leadership, teamwork, and personal development.
  • Create a safe and inclusive environment where young people feel valued and supported.
  • Facilitate discussions on relevant topics, including mental health, substance abuse prevention, and conflict resolution.
  • Responsible for leading engaging group activities, fostering personal growth, and building relationships within the community.
  • Family literacy: Supporting families in developing early literacy skills and creating home learning environments.
  • Youth development: Focusing on promoting positive youth development through mentoring, tutoring, and life skills training.
  • Juvenile justice: Working with youth involved in the juvenile justice system, providing re-entry support and prevention services.
  • Case management: Assessing needs, developing support plans, and connecting families to appropriate resources.
  • Counseling and mentoring: Offering emotional support, guidance, and life skills development.
  • Crisis intervention: Responding to immediate crises and providing necessary support.
  • Outreach and engagement: Building relationships with families and the community, promoting programs and services.
  • Collaboration: Working with other agencies and professionals to coordinate services and ensure comprehensive support.
  • Advocacy: Representing the needs of youth and families to policymakers and other stakeholders.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Maintain accurate records of group attendance, activities, and participants

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalency in social work, psychology, or a related field is often preferred.
  • Passion for working with young people and a strong belief in their potential.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication.
  • Ability to create an engaging and interactive group.
  • Strong organizational and time management.
  • Experience in group facilitation and youth development preferred.
  • Must pass all Department of Child Services required background checks.
