V.O.I.C.E.S. excels at working with trauma impacted youth that are searching for an identity. Utilizing Restorative practices, Art Therapy/Cognitive Behavior Therapy, creative art work shops, critical literacy, and mentoring allows us to assist youth and families impacted by violence, that have substantiated cases of abuse/neglect and CHINS cases. Our program allows staff, and volunteers to create trusting relationships through art and self-expression…allowing for root cause conversations to occur, and change to be fostered.
After School Programing
Offers students an in depth look at themselves and communities through art. It challenges them to build confidence, discover new pro social activities, and to tap into their untold stories and share them in a safe space. Students learn how to transform their words and art into performance pieces and how to begin building a new sense of community. Our Tracks include: Find Your Voice, Raise Your Voice, With One Voice, Voices On Beat, Voices Off, and Breaking The Vice Mentoring.
Breaking the Vice Mentoring
Provides youth with a positive caring adult to assist in developing self regulation skills, relational skills, positive social orientation, and positive community connections. Youth will participate in one on one, group mentoring sessions and participate in social learning experiences as well as community service. This program allows youth to break the vices and find their VOICES
In-Class Creative Arts Programing
Partnerships with local school corporations to work with teachers during class time. Students are able to participate in our state standard aligned curriculum as a compliment to daily instruction. Self discovery, sense of community and social justice are explored.
Art Therapy Integration
Offers youth an opportunity to process raw emotions through creative, personalized, guided sessions. Cognitive Behavior Therapy will be offered to participants in VOICES Programing.
Youth will participate in 35 hours of the following:
Cognitive behavior supports/Art Therapy: To help facilitate expression of thoughts and emotions. Art therapy is used to work with people with cognitive, behavioral, or emotional needs. It helps youth learn self-regulation and resolve trauma through cognitive behavioral techniques and mindfulness.
Self Expression/ Life Skills: To include budgeting, meal planning, banking, and employment preparedness to enhance work skills, and increase interpersonal relationships in regards to community and work. Workshops addressing Identity, self reflection, confidence and root cause conversations through art. Positive Action and Restorative practices utilized.
Community Engagement/Service Learning: Multiple community partners providing instruction on entrepreneurship, skills/trades, community mentors, and community service work
